ATC SEM-2 Spectrometer To Be Launched On The MetOp-B Satellite

CARLISLE, MA -- June 7, 2012 -- The Meteorological Operation-B (MetOp-B) Polar Orbiting Satellite is being readied for launch within the year, and will be used to monitor Earth and Space weather, and improve weather forecasts. MetOp-B includes the SEM-2 Spectrometer developed by ATC and Amptek, Inc., which will measure electron and proton fluxes with a range of 50eV-140MeV. SEM-2 consists of three components. The Total Energy Detector (TED), at 9.9lbs/1.1W, measures the intensity in selected energy bands from 50eV to 20KeV. The Medium Energy Proton Electron Detector (MEPED), at 18.3 lbs/3.7 W, measures protons, electrons, and ions from 30KeV to >140MeV. The Data Processing Unit (DPU) controls the TED and MEPED, and provides the satellite interface. SEM-2 will contribute to solar terrestrial energy knowledge by enabling MetOp-B to measure the intensity of the Earth's radiation belts, and the flux of charged particles at the satellite's altitude.

ATC Receives 2011 Boeing Performance Excellence Award

CARLISLE, MA -- May 29, 2012 -- Assurance Technology Corporation was presented with the Boeing 2011 Performance Excellence Award today for its contributions to the Boeing software defined radio (SDR) waveform and infrastructure software and firmware developments for the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Program, specifically for Its Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) Waveform and Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) developments. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. This is the second such award received by ATC.

"We are honored to be selected for the second year by Boeing for this award," commented Larue Renfroe founder and president of ATC.

ATC Compact Environmental Anomaly Sensor Experiment (CEASE) Instrument Launched On TacSat-4

CARLISLE, MA -- October 4, 2011 -- The Tactical Satellite-4 (TacSat-4), launched September, 27th 2011, includes the CEASE Compact Environmental Anomaly Sensor Experiment (CEASE) Instrument developed by Assurance Technology Corporation and Amptek, Incorporated. This lightweight, low power (1kg- 1.5 Watt) Space Instrument measures the satellite space radiation environment, also known as space weather. Its objectives are to provide awareness of the ambient space radiation, and to provide warning of space-environmental conditions likely to cause anomalous satellite operations. As an example, CEASE will enable TacSat-4 to sample the high energy electron population fluxes in its High Elliptical Orbit (HEO) environment during electron events.
